RONALDO MIRANDA

BIOGRAPHY

Studied composition with Henrique Morelenbaum and Piano with Dulce de Saules, at UFRJ. In 1977 he won the Composition Competition for the Second Biennial of Contemporary Brazilian Music in the category of chamber music. He has received several awards in other competitions throughout Brazil, such as the APCA (1982/1996), and the Carlos Gomes Award (2001). Praised at the Budapest Music Competition in Budapest (1986) and awarded the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government (1984), he participated in international events such as the 10th Biennial of Music in Berlin (1985), the Aspekte Festival (Salzburgo/ 1992), and the Klang der Welt Festival (Berlim/2008). In 2003, he served as residente composer at Brahmshaus in Baden-Baden. He was professor of composition at the UFRJ, is professor at USP and member of the Brazilian Academy of Music.
